Versions: 4.2.2 Android for 8″ and 10″ Yoga Tablets (WIFI, 3G and WW_CALL)
ROM: Official Lenovo
OS: Android 4.2
Languages: Multilanguage (chinese, english, german, spanish, italian, etc
This guide works only with Windows (XP, Vista, 7, 8)

At first let’s begin with the ROM – download itself. There are different versions of those tablets, so choose wisely
I’ll post only the Android 4.2.2 versions of the rooms, if you want, you can update them by yourself with the OTA. It is because at the moment you can root the JB – version more easily. (FRAMAROOT for 4.2.2 Jelly Bean versions only!!)

You have to register on this forum for download – permissions!!

Lenovo Yoga Tablet 8″:

Lenovo Yoga Tablet 10″:

for download click on the green button on the top right side:

Quote:
1. Drivers

Now, whyle you are downloading the ROM, lets look at the drivers you’ll need.

At first you need Lenovo USB Driver [from this site] version 1.00.11. 9,28mb

Next step youl need some other drivers and tools:

for installing unsigned drives on Windows 8, follow the guide below:

  1. Get access to Startup Options: HOWTO – Method 2 is the easiest way for me
  2. Once you are there (After a restart) you have to choose number 7 (Disable driver signature enforcement)

    number 7
  3. When you install unsigned driver after it, windows is allways asking you this:

    just click yes

    – install this driver anyway

Quote:
2. Install the ROM

What do you need:

  • At least 30% of battery
  • All Driver from above and unzipped driwer for “Download mode”
  • time

Now let’s begin.

  1. Install the USB driver.
  2. Unzip The ROM and put it on your desktop.
  3. Turn off your device and unplug it from USB (if its pluged in).
  4. for Windows 7/Windows Vista/Windows XP: Install the SP Flash Tool Driver Auto Installer from above and jump to step 7.
  5. go to “Device Manager (link for short guide)
  6. now when you are in your device manager it’ll be a little bit tricky. When you NOW plug in your device (it have to be turned off), a new “unknown” device will appear. It will be there only for a few seconds, so you habe to be quick. RIGHT-Click on this unknown device and then go to “Update driver” in preferences. Then choose the driver you had downloaded and unzippt on your desktop. Thats it!
  7. Now start the FlashTool.exe, (I think which you’ll find in your unzipped ROM in the “Upgrade tool” folder. And plug in your device (micro USB)).
  8. Click on “Scatter loading” (like on the image above). Then go to your ROM (you know, on your desktop) and in folder “target_bin” choose this file: “MT6577_Android_scatter_emmc.txt” (I am nbot shure if its the same name on all ROMs, but it has to be something with “scatter” in its name.
  9. Click on “DA DL ALL WITH Cheksum” (without it, the device wont start after flashing and you have to flash all again) you’ll see it on the pictures below:
  10. The “FAC” – file will be propably not checked.

Just choose it in your ROM folder by yourself in target_bin folder:

  11. Click on “Firmware -> Upgrade”
  12. Then you’ll see some pink lines loading. When the lines bekame yellow, you can skip the next step.
  13. It can be, that after the pink lines the Flash Tool will stop and nothing will happen then. If it keeps for one minute you have to unplug your device for 30 seconds and than just plug in again. NOTHING ELSE!!!
  14. When the green lines appears, just wait till its finished. You’ll see it, when the green circle appears:
  15. Unplug your device and restart. Don’t panik, its multilingual and your language will be there (for shure), just click on the rigt chinese words in the first window which appears and scroll up.

After that you can easiely update your tablet to 4.4.2 with the OTA

Happy flashing =)

  1. hi i followed all the steps. but now i can hear it boot up but the screen is blank the back light come on, it makes a jingle noise on start up, i can connect it to laptop and see the file, but screen it blank, i have re test the process. i did have to stop the download of the firmware on the first try because i didn’t tick the check sum box. what do i do next.

    • well when you are in the middle of the flash process it is veeery bad to stop it. I really don’t know what to do. the only thing is to reflash the whole thing.

  2. know that know. when you say re flash it do you mean start the process again because i have done this several times. as i said i think its just the screen. would a factory rest help, if some one could guide me as to what order to press the buttons in.

      • Thanks so much for great post. I have same problem as raised by Robin.
        – before flashing my tablet the splash screen was coming
-after flashing using the steps you mentioned I just hear sound and backlit but screen is blank. even splash screen is not coming

  3. Thanks for the tutorial but I have some issue. First , Mine yoga USB driver failed. Second, item 12 have click on DADL but item 13 no click already? Any advise?

  4. Some corrections:

A)For the FAC file at step 12:
1)click on the box so it is checked
2)click on the FAC name and select the FAC file.

    B)with the tablet NOT connected:
    1)Click on DOWNLOAD
2)Wait till it’s done its business
3)Connect the tablet while it is SWITCHED OFF, and DO NOT switch it on. The flashing procedure will then start automatically.

When finished, disconnect the tablet from your computer, and switch it on. The 1st boot may take some time, so be patient.

As of September 2015, the Russian site mentionned at top of this page has several Kitkat 4.4.2 Roms available for both WiFi and 3G versions. Use Chrome browser, and right click to use Chrome’s TRANSLATE facility. This site also has a TWRP recovery file for download, but from the numerous comments, it appears not to work properly. If you try this TWRP it and it works for you, let everyone else on here know, indicating the full specs of both your tablet and Rom.

    Merci.

  5. Thank you. I just re-imaged my lenovo 10″ , it works on windows 7 and not wondows 10. Need to explain more on language setting. Has not found the language and English setting yet. But thanks anyway.

  6. Thank you so much!! This process worked form my Yoga 10. Just a couple of notes for anyone who will need to go throught.
    1) If you have Windows 10 will not work (it has driven me crazy, with VM’s, compatibility mode, etc.)
    2) In the procedure has not been clear to me when try to power up the device. In my experien has not been enough simply plug into the PC, but I had to try to push the power on button ‘cuz the Flash tool was not detecting the connection with the tablet: after one push it has worked like a charm. I forgot to check “DA DL ALL WITH Cheksum” but has worked anyway.

Thanks a bunch to the author (s) and publisher(s)!!

    • i dont know for sure….. as i said i dont have this device anymore…. but i think it have to be the same process as with win 8 on win 10….

  8. i followed the exact same steps as the original post, up until step 13 (Firmware upgrade).
The pink lines load as in step 14, but no yellow bar, so i follow the step 15, but still doesn’t work.

Also i use the “download button” step explained in the comments, and same issue.

    Any help? B8000

  9. Had the same problem (pink lines but no yellow bar).

I solved it by pressing once shortly the power button on the tablet (then the yellow lines appeared and the flash process began and completed successfully!).

  10. My tablet was in “erasing” loop after unsuccessful factory reset. Tried factory reset to no available. The above method fixed the issue. Many thanks!!!

  11. THANK YOU! Me too, actually got the brick to work! Thank you for sharing your knowledge! Two questions: the tablet wants to do a firmware upgrade – 131219 wifi to 140310 wifi. There is a constant up-arrow in the notification area for it that always reappears when I switch on. The system upgrade section in settings has a lot of Chinese in it. Is it safe to do this?
Is there anything I could have done to avoid getting NVRAM WARNING:Err = 0x10 ?

    Mike

  12. +alu4rd – Hi, I got this problem when the process is yellow :
S_DA_SDMMC_WRITE_FAILED (3149). I’m using Windows 10. I’ve tried several ROMs (Android 4.2, this 4.2.2 and 4.4.20, but every time I get this error at 32-35% writing. And then when I turn on the tablet it only displays the Lenovo logo, with the error message at the bottom of the screen: “TOOL DL image Fail!”. Could you help me please?

    • as i said before, i dont have this device anymore. I am not up to date with the Firmware, or the Problems related to the flashing process. Maybe someone can help you on this russian Forum? =)

  13. I just want to say thank you for this. I spent hours getting error 4010 and 4008 on Windows 10 64, windows 10 32 and windows 7 32, I finally figured out I had to “format whole flash without Bootloader” then hit firmware/upgrade.

  14. Hi EVERYBODY, I got this problem when the process is yellow :
S_DA_SDMMC_WRITE_FAILED (3149). I’ve used WINDOWS 10 AND 8.1. Could ANYONE help me please?

  15. I solved the problem with the black screen:
So if you got black screen after installing the 442 Rom, follow the exact steps explained above (with firmware bla bla bla) but this time instal this rom instead: Lenovo_Yoga_8_B6000_A422_000_059_131219_WW_WIFI
For me it worked like a charm:

Download: just write “Lenovo_Yoga_8_B6000_A422_000_059_131219_WW_WIFI google files” and is the first link
If you have the 3g version instal that one

    Cheers!

  16. sir after flashing gets completed my tab working well. But the problem is voice calling feature is not appearing. Only messages can be done. plz reply

  17. Dear aluk4rd,
I’ve already used Your solution once and it helped me (Thanks a lot for that!)
Now I needed to flash the same device again, but unfortunatelly I downloaded and flashed with the wrong ROM. I got this error: S_DA_SDMMC_WRITE_FAILED (3149) – I guess it was because of the wrong ROM version.
Now when I start Flash Tool with the right ROM version (for Yoga 8 3GDATA and NOT fpr Yoga 10)
than it stops at STEP 15. I disconnected the device than connected it again but nothing happens…
When I turn on the device it only shows black screen and tries to turning on continuously.
Do You have any advice, what else can I do?

    Thanks in advance!

  18. hi this is great tutorial. can lenovo model 60047 apply to this process… my tablet just close and i can not open it after i charged it… my pc can not even detect the software… plss can u help me thankz lot…

  20. Works well with W10. For better communication with Flash Tool open the tablet back case and unplug battery connector. Than hit download button and after that connect USB cable.
